I still remember that I was very excited and was eager to join this 3-day camp. When I first saw our class trainer, who was Candice and YY, I thought that she was a very smart person as she is part of the Adam Khoo's programme. In fact, I thought that all trainers were intelligent. To my surprise, they all started out badly but ended greatly. That was when I thought, success always begins with failure.
On the first day, Candice had shared with us about the people around us and the standard they are at. Then she asked us, " Where do you want to be when we grow up? Do you want to be a low standard pay worker or a person who holds a high place with a good/enough pay ?"(not exactly what she said, about the same.) I told myself that I would definitely not become the person to have a low standard pay. As soon as I wrote down who I want to become, Candice mentioned again that success will only be with us if we are willing to work hard. She taught us the ultimate success formula which I think is quite useful.
She also shared with us the story about the story of the Eagles and the Sheeps. The Eagles are the hardworking ones who chooses to try and spread their wings and fly when it is time to leave their nest. The Sheeps, as what we call it, "The Followers" are the ones that will
follow blindly.
Of course, no one would choose the Sheeps unless they do not want to be successful in life. The Eagle are our choices, we have to be like them to do our best and fly out of the nest to find a better place to live.
She also told us the rules for success. They are:
Success rule no. 1: Do it Fast
Do it Right
Do it Now
Success rule no. 2: What you have
Who you become
Success rule no. 3: Success=Moving towards your goal everyday
No failure, only learning experience.
Later on that day, YY came in and introduced himself. He told us the story about how his name came about. Next, he told us about our brain. I learnt that there are 1,000,000,000,000 neurons in our brain. It was so amazing! I never thought that our brain would have so many neurons. Other animals or insects, like the Honey Bee, has only 7,000 neurons.
He then gave us an assignment of memorizing 30 words in two days time. We had to memorize it in the speed of 6 seconds or below in order to pass this test. At the end of the day, he showed us a short movie of about 45 minutes about a man, named Rocky, who created the movie. He told us that Rocky was unfortunate as he was born a little bit different from others. Despite his looks, Rocky did not give up on his dream of being an actor. He went up to many directors to allow him to act in their movie, but all rejected him until the last director gave him 200 dollars to create his own movie.
Rocky's movie was about him, being the main actor, acting as a boxer. In his first movie, he won the championship in a tournament. In his second movie, his rival challenged him again and he lost. Finally, in his third movie, it showed how upset and devastated he was and how he managed to find courage again to carry on fighting as a boxer. This shows that we should not give up easily as there is always a chance for us to win.
On the second day, Candice told us about the crab friends who pulls us down and the fruitfly friends who pulls us up to success. Again, her question remained in my mind until today. She asked," Are you going to be the crab friend who will pull everyone down with you or the fruitfly friend who will everyone up?" I agreed that I needed to work harder to avoid being a crab friend. Before the day ended, she told us to close our eyes and imagine that we were walking down a path which leads us to our parents and ourselves. This process made everyone cry, including myself.
On the third day, we faced a challenge of stacking chairs. Unfortunately, my class does not seem to be corporative as we were in a chaotic mess and delayed the timing. Candice was very angry that she made us do it more than 5 times all over again. The 6A class seems to have gotten the trick and works well fast.YY taught us the method of speed reading. It was a challenge as there was only a limited amount of time for us to circle the key words and answer questions without referring back to the passage. Finally, it was time to meet our parents in the hall. We gave them a letter to thank them. I saw many people crying but my mother did not cry as she joked about crying before until her tears are all dried up. She said she would not cry anymore. I promised that I would be a filial daughter to her.
That was surely a good learning experience 3-days camp which made me really motivated.
